Never, Ever, Give Up!

Don’t Give Up

I have a cartoon of a heron trying to eat a frog. The frog is halfway down the heron’s throat but he has his hands around the heron’s neck. The caption below reads, “Never, ever, give up.”

Can we have the same attitude as the frog? What do we do when obstacles arise?

Try to look beyond today, to next week, next month or year. What plans do you have for then? What can you do today to change your future, instead of worrying about today’s problem?

Sometimes people who cause us problems, do it just to see us react, like bullies at school. They are the ones with the problem. They think making us unhappy will make them happy.

What we need to develop is a method of giving ourselves a reward when we have come through a difficult or stressful time. A holiday, a day trip to a museum, or just to pamper our self. This will give us a change of concentration so that we do not dwell on what has happened.

The problems we face will happen again, so we need to learn from past experience, make a note of what happened and what didn’t.

Remember that sometimes people who cause us problems, do it just to see us react, like bullies at school. They are the ones with the problem. They think making us unhappy will make them happy.

Try to look beyond today, to next week, next month or year. What plans do you have for then? What can you do today to change your future, instead of worrying about today’s problem?

This strategy will help us to stay above the problem and the other person. And to remember, never, ever, give up!
