The Wrong Way to Cope with Stress

In the short term these following ideas may seem to work, but in the longer term they can actually make your symptoms worse:coping with stress

  • deny there is a problem: you will never find a cause and the problem will continue
  • blame others: they become a cause of stress for you in addition to the actual problem
  • drink too much caffeine or smoke: both are stimulants and will not help you switch off, whereas too much alcohol will depress you
  • throw yourself into work: you become less effective at your job, which can actually cause more stress
